A trip into a local Herp shop to get some superworms is quickly turning into an expensive trip!
My hubby (who AVOIDS Drako as much as possible) actually went in with me. Last night someone dropped off a 3 year old German Giant female--they wanted a puppy instead if you can possible believe that! She was pretty stressed BUT was very gentle. She has some very deep yellow on her face and a black beard...I bet she will be georgous when unstressed and fired up!
Of course the shop did not know of her lineage...she was purchased from that same shop in 2001...When I asked specifically about the "German Giant" the store manager looked surprised...that is exactly what the vet had called her yesterday at her checkup...but DUH it was very obvious as she was WAY over 20 inches and HUGE...double the size of our male super-orange/citrus-sandfire. SHe appeared to be very healthy--gosh her tail base and fat pads were HUGE. Her head alone was over 3inches across. They were selling her for $99.
My hubby--again someone who hasn't fallen for reptiles like me and my teenage daughters--actually CALLED the petstore on our way back home to find out their holiday hours! He ASKED me to go tank shopping tomorrow!!!!
I will not go into the details of how she is being kept in a 40 gallon along with a juvi male (about 7 months old) AND a red adult URO...on repti bark with pellets and a water dish...no salad today...(but they normally fix decent salads there. She did look pretty stressed but was VERY calm when I handled her and she even snuggled!
Is anyone going to talk me out of it?
I still can't believe that my hubby would even have suggetested it! He even asked how long it would take me to make her a rock wall like Drako has!
