I just purchased , today, my first pair of Red Bloods.
I have kept many reptiles, for over 20 years, and I have produced hundreds of colubrids, and am trying my hands at breeding boas this year.
I just got them, so I am not yet posting pictures.
I have them both in a heated sweater box rack: cool end 79-80, and warm end 92-94. they have a tight fiting hide-box at each end, and water in the middle. I have a Ranco-controlled room temperature that runs from 78-83 deg f. which I cycle DTH and NTL. I have an ultrasonic room humidiier, which maintains humdidty between 50%-70%. I think they are pretty well set up.
The female is hatchling sized, and the male is probably pushing 1000 grams and is about 1 year old.
I got the pair at a pet shop for $160 total, and the male is a stunner! not really RED, but REALLY orange. the price could not be beat, and they were CB by a local fellow here in Boise ID.
What is a viable breeding weight for a female, and how long should it take to achieve this weight?
How the heck do you tell if a blood is getting obese? They all look corpulent to me!
I will take pictures next week, after they have settled in a bit.
