Have you ever noticed that when a rattler's rattles are wet, they make hardly a sound? I first noticed this when I caught an atrox near a creek and it buzzed loudly, then got muffled as it scuffled backwards into water. It comes in handy when you have a WDB that won't shut up while you are feeding the other snakes in the room! I did this tonight with a spray bottle and was amused by the results.
