Very confused as to what my little beauty is...

xRavenChildx Jan 01, 2005 06:55 AM

Hello,

I went to the reptile shop today to see what I could find and I came across the beautiful lizard. Problem is, nobody seems to know what he is. The woman at the counter had told me but its escaped my memory. It was a Mal-something Iguana... She said that hes over a year old and this is as big as he will get. She showed me everything I will need to keep him safe and happy and Ive got it all. I want to do some extended research on care, but without his species im kind of screwed. Ive had people tell me hes an collared lizard, uro, bearded dragon, desert something... Everything... I know its not a bearded dragon or a uro... Argh hes a confusing little bugger Heres some pictures:

Heh... Thanks for any help you can provide, I assure you it is greatly appreciated

Raven

It's an Oplurus from Madagaskar, probably cuvieri. I think they're called spiny- tailed iguana's.
A friend of mine had a couple of them. They are great pets, pretty docile and they breed well.
I think they inhabit the 'dry' forests but i'm not sure.

I hope you can find some more info, good luck.

Hey everyone! I got a hold of the woman who sold him to me and she said it is a Malagasy Banded Pine Cone Tail Iquana... Essentialy it belongs to the spiny tailed iguana family. thanks for all your help

To say it more precisely: Its an Oplurus cyclurus!
