Does any one know of anyone who sells twistneck turtles and if they are hard to care for?

Hello:
Twit-Necks are also occasionally called Brown Sidenecks. The latin Is Platemys platecephala. They are relatively easy to keep though they are not really fond of deep water. They are available occasionally on dealers lists. Just keep checking the adds.

Twistnecks have specific needs. Such as pH, and humidity, and temps. They are South American so you can expect to duplicate jungle conditions. They do quite well when their needs are met.
My experience is they are hard to start, but once they do, they become dog tame.
I live in New England, and even in a heated herp room, I found that tropical turtles dont do winter well.
Even with a tank heater, warm room, and mercury vapor bulbs, RI was a problem with my twistnecks during the winters.
I seem to have that problem with all my tropical turtles.
I never have a problem finding twistnecks at shows here in the Northeast, I do however have problems finding smaller ones.
Most are pretty big ( over 6 inches) that I find.
