Don't do it. If you have bonded that much with your normal burm keep him and give him a good home and be happy with him. You took him in and now you are responsible for his life. He trusted you and shows it by his tame actions. When he is gone you wil miss him and wonder how he is and how he is being treated. Good homes are scarce for the life of normal burms yet they are beautiful, wonderful snakes. I love my snakes too and won't part with a really tame one. A truly tame snake is worth a whole lot more than appearence. Actually I prefer the natural looks of a normal.

"This guy" has a motive for trading the albino-could be problems with it. He may want yours cause it is so tame. His might not be. Take your time. Keep yours and get an albino also later. Bill

One of the primary reasons why so many burms become abandoned each year is because folks, who are well intentioned, don't have what it takes to give their burms a lifelong commitment; most get tired of their pets, lose interest, etc. I'm not saying you are one of them but this is just the common denominator based on the many burms I take in each year. Swapping for another burm is irresponsible in my opinion. Your burm is YOUR burm and deserves the best home possible for its ENTIRE LIFE. This is harsh but you asked the question. Keep the burm, don't make the swap and you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams. Few people can say that they have kept a burm for its entire life. Plus, albino burms are a dime a dozen and if you do a little investigating you can easily find one in need of adoption.

I completely agree. I have the TAMEST burm I've ever seen in my life, he just happens to be an albino green, so he is beautiful. I've raised him since hatchling, he is now almost 6 feet (just 7 months later mind you, and I don't power feed). I have been offered 600 bucks for him (just some local idiots that don't know the value) and I won't sell him for anything, I know he is in the best home right now, with me. Not to mention, who else would put a 5 1/2' male burm in a 6x3x18 vision cage. He's fat and happy. Keep your snake.

And as for how big do albinos get, they are still a burm, they get the size of a burm. It's just a color mutation.

I have a pit/lab mix I got from the shelter. She went from a bony cringing thing to the smartest, gentlest, sweetest dog around. If someone offered a pack of the finest pedigreed dogs or a set of leucistic ball pythons in exchange for my hundred-dollar shelter refugee, I'd frankly say things to him that would get my post deleted here.
This tame normal burm you have and love is to you and only to you, one of a kind because you know him and are his keeper.
You don't know this albino, so this albino, even if a healthy, happy tame one, is exactly the same as any other albino.
Albino burms are pretty common (you can check the classifieds) and the price may be slightly higher, but still very comparable to a normal one.
Keep your one-of-a-kind snake and prepare as necessary for when you want to get an albino as another addition to your household.

I agree with everyone else. Your burm is trusting YOU to take care of it for it's entire lifetime. I wouldn't trade MY tame snake for any other snake that I don't know. Your snake knows your smell, your ways of handling him and everything else. Don't trade the snake and lose the trust of your baby!

Everyone is recommeding keeping the burm because it is tame and the other may not be. I agree your burm is yourburm and you should be responsible for its life now. If you are going to loose interest in this animal the start looking for a good home now and be picky. Like Rob said, albino burms are all over and you can easily find one for a better price than the exchange would have been. The more important thing over a "tame" burm is its health and if it is eating...do you know any of this about the albino? If you got the burm because you wanted a snake...I blame the people who sold it to you. If you always wanted an albino and you got a normal to settle...kinda dumb move if you ask me since you could have seen this coming then. All your burms will get HUGE no matter what color they are so you should stick to your commitment and throw all dedication into the animal. My opinion is one that is honestly tired of albino burms...they are the dang snake that began this whole "fetish" morph yadda yadda bringing in all the people who never even had an interest in snakes prior. Some of those people getting really into it but some lose interest quick. They are all over the place too and if you have a nice normal burmese python I think it is way way cooler than an albino. I saw you are keeping your snake so I say good move if you love the animal. I just want to help support reasons for it and in my opinion "tame" means extremely little because its those surprises with "tame" animals that get you. Health and eating would be a huge problem for a long time if you can even keep it alive.
