I am a HS science teacher and I tell them they must be thirty before they even think about it. For reasons unclear to me neither my students or my snakes listen to a damn thing I tell them. I've got a young adult male blood and I keep telling him he's got to get in there and donate one for the cause, but so far no luck. I've got a couple of girls that are looking pretty promiscuous and they need a good strong man(snake). How do I know when my little guy is up to the task? He seems to be the strong silent type and isnt telling me anything.

Doesnt that just figure, I cant get HS students to stop having sex and I cant get my male blood to start.

The older they get the more bold they become. I have a male that you rarely if evey catch copulating and another that copulates constantly. I would expect males to become sexually mature at 18-24 months of age. I have one male that copulated at around 19months when introduced with a 5 year old female. They were together for a month before anything noticable happened. The female needs to be receptive for the younger males to copulate. I have females that will cloacal gape if I grab their tales and these are the ones I prefer to start the younger males with. If nothing else, for practice. Sort of a Mrs. Robinson thing.... works every time for me.
