Can HL be purchased legally?

And if so where? I was under the impression that they were critically endangered over much of their range and therefore "off" the market. Am I wrong?

:The only horned lizards that are legal in the pet trade are from Nevada: the Desert Horned Lizard, Phrynosoma platyrhinos, and the Shorthorned Lizard, Phrynosoma hernandezi. The Roundtail Horned Lizard, Phrynosoma modestum, from Texas, is the only other horned lizard legal in the pet trade. Many horned lizard species are protected by the individual states and require permits or license. Any captive offspring cannot be sold in the pet trade. You will have to check with your local pet store or state Fish and Game office for details. Lester G. Milroy III
