Hello all and Happy New Year. I am new to this site and happy to have found it. I would like to obtain a male and female, possibly two females. These would be bought as juveniles do to I want to handle them when young so they would be comfortable as a pet to handle. I am going to build a custom glass enclosure 40"x30" which in square footage be eqivalent to a 4ftx2ft tank, which I read is suffient for up to three beardies. I will have a stand that will also hold a 40 gal breeder on the bottom if need be. Please not that I have had a beardie before for approx 3 years then it passed on quickly due to a unknown disease. I missed it and always wanted another one. So feeding and keeping house on them was a routine I enjoyed. I have never thought of breeding before, now I am putting that into the picture. If I obtain a trio of beardies, I understand the combo of a male and two females shouldn't be a problem getting along in one enclosure. But what happens when they start the breeding season? Do I seperate the male after I see the females have egg bulges so not to cause undo stress. If so then after the females have laid the eggs can I put the male back with no problems. What i'm trying to do is have the trio most of the time in the same enclosure as pets and when it's breeding time make sure I keep a safe environment for them. When I choose the trio (which will be morphs)I would like some suggestions on obtaining/choosing them since I understand you do not want to have inbreed between them so does this mean I have to get them from seperate breeders or just depend on the breeder to make sure there not related closely. I'm going to attend a retile show in two weeks and one in April so if I have enough education I could put pick some up there or I have no objections to purchasing from a reputable online breeder. Any input and suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post but I was trying to give the overall picture.
Regards,
Pat
