very nice yellow!
From what literature I have found it would seem that true Yellows should have a black tounge. I am not sure if it should be solid black or just have black in it.
If it should be solid black then it would appear my little guy has a little bit of everglades in him. It doesn't look like a lot but maybe a little. In this picture you can see that his tounge is at least half black.
Although it is kind of hard to tell, there is a slightly different look to yours. The eye is a little more orange and the color a little deeper.
Looks like what I would expect a pure yellow to look.
It's a subptle difference but it does seem to be there.
Is yours pure yellow?
Any thoughts on the subject?
anyone?

Hey Jimmy thanks for the compliment. The only background I have on mine is that he is wc here in S FL. He also has alot of red in his tongue. I'm not sure, but it also looks like your guy is a bit younger than mine. Mine's probably over 3 feet now and very hefty. His pattern is fading a little more with every shed and his color seems to be lightening up as well. I have heard/read the same thing about the tongue color, so I'm not sure what to think. I know that where my guy two were collected, both subspecies can be found so there is a good possibility that they are indeed intergrades. I know mine look very different than yellows found further north. Those seem to have a deeper yellow and much darker stripes. My little female is alot more orange and she looks to really be an intergrade, but I think her tongue is pure black (gotta double check). I will try and get some good pics of her soon, but she is a nasty little thing!! Here's a body shot of my male......

>>they say it is hard to find a pure yellow. I believe they may be right.
Yeah my snake is younger then yours. Just a little over a year old now.
He is pretty calm, he would prefer not to be bothered but never tries to bite and rarely musks.
But the Everglades I got with him is a little terror. That thing doesn't really try to bite much anymore but thrashes and musks like crazy.
Really a pain in the butt...lol

a little less light in this photo

I have a really nice female yellow* everglades (ever-yellows?) that is breaking 6 foot now...great disposition/typical coloration...black/red tongue. I've been thinking of breeding her but want to come up with something a little unique. I like the lighter colors of the first pics in the series and saw a pic or two from Dwight Goodbar a year or two back/axanthic or something and it was really nice. (don't care for the whitesides much tho' personally)

The other colors I really like tho are the classic dark solid lined/mustard colors that were mentioned as being hard to find these days and from further north. Does anyone breed the old style mustards anymore or are they like the classic eastern kings-typically overlooked? And also do the pure yellow get larger without the everglade influence? One more...does anyone have an adult green (striped vs. blotched) pic to post?
