We've been bash as "stingy" when that pledge was at $35 Million by those who hate the US.
I wonder if, since we've upped the ante, those same anti-Americans will now praise us?
Just kidding, lol.

It won't matter WHAT we do or how much we give. It'll never be enough. That bush guy is the cause of ALL the worlds problems. He's got to go before anyone will be happy about ANYTHING. Mr. wunnerful kerry would've done it bigger and better. EVERYTHING bigger-n-better (at taxpayers expense of course).

Thane, the present leader in this effort is Japan with $500,000,000 pledged.
I can't see the US being able to play (one up) since we allready are stretched pretty tight thanks to our war efforts.
Anyhow...
The private sector is expected to top every one.

Typical liberal jive!
The US pledges $350 of our hard-earned tax dollars and you put a negative spin on it.
The American people and government give more money to other countries than ANY other countries. Do you liberal socialists get that? The 350 million CASH that was promised by the US government doesn't even compare to the costs that our government is incurring by utilizing out carrier fleets, helicopters, planes, doctors, medical supplies, and food relief!
Why don't you libs go lambast the Saudi "royalty" for their minimal input into helping the situation? If they gave 1 days worth of profits they recieve on oil they would surpass the US and Japan on their contributions. They would rather sit back and just keep getting richer.
As for the germans and french I have seen posting on this site, think about where you would be if Hitler was aloud to continue... The US may not be perfect, but it has done more to help other countries of this world than any other.
I agree the USA has contributed more than any other nation. That the amount any country gave should be an issue is absurd.
But the continous references to Hitler and the "Master race" (which is nearly sixty years in the past) made by some who post here are uncalled for. Every nation has had it's black eye.
For the USA it was Slavery and our "Indian" wars that were nothing more than a contrived eradication of a native people for profit.
All these deragatory statements that have nothing to do with the issue discussed are nothing more than the newest flavor of Bigotry.
Can't we just keep to the issues instead of petty attacks on whatever country is out of favor?

Even the U.S. is running out of money ($413 billion in debts only this year) it shows its other side: the sympathetic and helpful one.
I is amazing to me how a nation can have two such different faces. I would like the U.S. to show more of its gentle side.
Happy New Year!

Yes, H & E, it is a fact that the US is "sympathetic and helpful". If you open both eyes, you will see that we've been "sympathetic and helpful" for many, many years. You , as a German citizen, should be grateful for all the millions of our hard-earned tax dollars that were poured into your country after Hilter decimated Germany.
As for your claim that we have "two such different faces", we only have one. The other "face" you refer to is an illusion created by those who are either envious of the US or those who hate the US for not redistributing the hard earned income of US citizens to their own pockets. It is the Socialists of the world, including the welfare lovers within the US, who create asinine stories about invading Iraq for it's oil, etc.
You should leave your hat off.
That is the beauty of this Country H.E. Inspite of all the flag waving Hate Mongers you may see who twist everything to fit their prejudice, (Like the ones who turned a major natural disaster into their political hate fodder) this country is filled with people who do care.
The private sector will produce an incredible amount of aid.

Tough and relentless business men are found in the U.S. (also in European nations including Germany) but a lot of people who care. I think in the U.S. there are more people who care than elsewhere.
You know my opinion about the government and there are a lot of things in the U.S. that I don't understand, but I admit that there are living many people who care.

I agree Thane. The Kerry-loving, bitter "shrub"-bashers will complain that some other country pledged more than we did, as though this is a game of one-upping, lol. If they had their way, John Kerry , the most liberal minded politician/anti-American/traitor would have depleted the entire public fund in an effort to show the world that our money is their money. Bush, on the other hand, pledged a more than generous amount that, to some living in South Florida, is inadequate, lol.
Japan, by the way, wouldn't be in a position to pledge $500 million had the US not nursed Japan back to health over the years, just like we did for Germany. Some people just don'tget it.
go die kerry,
Go to that political forum. I went there to express/discuss MY political veiws without making everyone else in my hobby hate ME (not what you want, trust me). For THAT topic (politics etc.), there's a lot more to discuss over there (and more than enough to disagree with and argue with). It's really off topic here, and there's not enough interest anymore (or that's what it looks like to ME). Link to political forum below:

But what means the note "banned" below his name? *LOL*

.
Ain't that the truth!
