Nighttime temp for baby BD?

tanmuscles Jan 01, 2005 05:55 PM

I just got my first BD 2 days ago and i noticed that the temp in his cage drop to about 62 degrees at night. I know that is too low so i'll be buying an under-tank heater here in a few minutes. I was just wondering what temp you guys keep your tanks at at night. I was thinking 70 or maybe a little warmer was good.

62F is a little low for nighttime temps but not dangerously so. Anywhere between 65-75F at night is good. You can get nighttime heat in a few different ways. Either heat the room to 65-75F, a night bulb (blue bulb or red bulb), ceramic heater or undertank heater will do it.

Thanks. I put the under the tank heater and it raised the nighttime temps to 73-74 degrees. I was going to put it on a timer, but i wanted to see what it did to my daytime temps if i left it on 24/7. It raised my basking temp from 105 to 110 and then slightly raised the temps on one side of the cage. The cool side still remains at 75 degrees. Is 110 too hot? Sorry, but i'm just used to monitors where the basking temp is 130-140. thanks for all your help.
