Biting!?!?(long)

iggyluver Jan 01, 2005 06:16 PM

Has anyone else had the problem of their ig acting agressive for no apearant reason? i guess i shouldn't even call it agressiveness because for today and yesterday he has been trying to bite me but not acting mad or anything. It all started yesterday when i opened his cage to feed him and he walked towared me. I thought he was just looking to come out of the cage, but when he crawled onto my knee,(i was squatting) he walked over and bit my stomach!!! it hurt really bad and he wouldn't let go untill i blew into his face which caused him to release and walk away like nothing ever happened! Then later in the day i was petting him and he tryed to bite me but i pulled away just in time. I just passed it off as him having a pissy day and thought no more of it. But today while he was out in my bedroom he walked over to a dirty pair of my jeans on the floor and bit them repeatedly so i waited untill he let go and i snatched him up so he wouldn;t hurt his teath. Anyway sorry for the long post i just wondered why my baby hated me so much!!!lol

Yes, it is. But he didn't act like this a few weeks ago. oh well, i guess thats what comes along with it, unpredictibility.

Thanks, mark

Forest was in that breeding season mode up until a couple-three weeks ago & has since gone back to his normal colors & normally good personality.

However...yesterday he was bitie & nasty out of nowhere. Today, while out back on our patio, I decided to give him a "shower" (a "bath" is a soak in the tub, a "shower" is with the hose set on shower, LOL) & when he was done, he bit the tube of liquid soap I used on him so bad that he put holes in it. He REFUSED to let go until I used the closest thing I had & I shot him a blast with the hose & he released the soap. Blowing in his face had no effect except to make him shake it like there was no tomorrow.

Later, I caught him shaking the chit out of my lizard gloves. For no reason other than I left them within biting distance.

Earlier tonight he tried to bite me when I set his plate of food down. Walked over like he was gonna say hi & then turned & tried it but I jerked away just in time.

Tonight, our neighbors were firing fireworks off across the street. Unfortunately, it's right across the street from Forest's bed/window. I looked over at him & he was WIDE awake, eyes looking everywhere & generally irritated.

Then & only then do I remember his previous owners telling me that the only time he ever broke out of their FL room (his room) was during 4th of July fireworks. Took them 12 hours to find him. He'd broke through the screen on their lanai...

So.....I'm ASSUMING it has been all this New Years festivities that has him on edge.

Any chance of that here?

I dunno if this helps, but when my ig is in breeding season, he always bites jeans and stuffed animals right before he does, um, the nasty to them. He won't let go until he is done. And he doesn't even care if a person is wearing those jeans or not. Also, he does a head bob before he even goes after them, so that's our only warning signal.
