ORIENTAL TOAD QUESTION..

sallie_keeper Jul 03, 2003 07:35 PM

Can they be kept with ANYTHING else?? I have seen in petshops the FBToad housed with the FBnewt but I don't know about the toxin problem. Can they be with fish or aquatic drawf frogs, or something to keep the tank interesting.. I would love to care for these beautiful toads, but don't want to mess things up by listinging to the petshop folk..

well they would eat the newts if they are given a good enough oprotunity. i wouldnt house them with any animals. except maybe fish. i put some guppies in there water a while back and they tried to get em but couldnt. so i ended up putting them in a bowl. some one here said they tried the same thing and they never ate the fish. and they have lived on the frogs cage for over a year.

your welcome, i guess. i have learned over the past week with some very rude posters in another forum. that being a hard butt aint worth it. unless the situation permits it. But the only thing i would put in with a FBT would be a few guppies. and nothing else. yes community tanks can be a disaster but some folks just would heed warnings some times.

i had a community tank once when i was 10-12 years old, now 18 and that was before we had a computer. i had a toad and a anole in a 5 gallon tank. i never saw any animocity between the two but the anole died (probibly due to improper habitat conditions). then the toad died about a month later when a cricker got into the water and died and "puffed up" in a fungy like thing and the toad went to eat it and chocked on it my first frog dead then i had two toad tads i raised into frogs then while on vacation my cat some how knocked off the lid and ate both of them. but now years later i have researched them and am doing 150% better.

just do some research before you get your pet and feel free to ask any questions. but dont be discuraged if some one flames you. the frog forum is very hostile right now and you might want to stay in here
