Male too big to breed with my female?

Stickytongues Jan 01, 2005 10:18 PM

Could use some friendly advice on this matter. I have a huge male DH for stripe albino that is 7 foot long and over 20 lbs. I have a few females that are about 6 foot and about 12 pounds. Do you think its ok to put them together or will the male crush her.

There is a big difference in sizes between the male and females. I just don't want any of my girls getting hurt. Maybe I should just sell him?

Your females WILL outgrow your male. But for RIGHT NOW, your male is capable of being "over zealous" and injuring your females. If you absolutely love your males color/patern/what-have-you.....KEEP him. You will be able to breed him without FEAR in the future.

Thats what I was afraid of. The male is nothing special. I was actually going to bred my females to a Dh sunglow or albino male anyway. I just thought since he was 100% het stripe and albino and I had a het albino female that was 66% het stripe, maybe I could make some striped albinos. I'll keep him around as a back up and wait until the next breeding season to let my females loose.
