Chameleon eating peas???

Chamcham505 Jan 02, 2005 10:44 AM

Hi
My adult male veiled chameleon has no interest whatsoever in any kind of vegetable or fruit. I have tried Kale, squash, little peices of bananna, and many other kinds of vegies and fruits. But just yesterday, I had the idea of feeding him Green Peas, becuase they roll around, and the movement may attract him. Well I put them in a cup and before I even had them directly in his face he already snapped up 5. So, is it ok to feed my chameleon green peas, becuase its the only veggie he will eat? Any input will be much appreciated. Thanks!
Michele

that should be ok, but Ive never tried that myself. Green veggies are extremely important to an adult chams diet, my suggestion is moving the veggies around with your hands. Hopefully your cham is friendly enough for this, mine is fortunately, and I have ONLY hand fed her for the last three years, I'm lucky. she comes running when she sees me and tries to climb on me and zap my hands because of that! Leave his salads in there for him anyway, since my cham eats her hibiscus plant from time to time, without any movement on its part it helps that it doesnt wither away, and shes on it 24/7. I know how salads get withered. good luck!

i've heard that it might be necessary to get your chameleon hungry to get it to eat veggies. this can be done by skip feeding crickets one day out of the week and put in veggies instead.
