O/T... Guys please help. : (

shopunke Jan 02, 2005 11:11 AM

I don't know how much more of this I can take. I threw in some crix for Tobias this morning, cleaned his cage and gave him new furniture. He's still not eating on his own.

As for Beady's fungal infection... Well... take a look for yourself. Comparing his infected leg to his normal leg. I just noticed the swelling this morning. The hole in his arm is clearly visible.

I don't know what to freaking do anymore. Gonna have some kind of breakdown if another animal gets sick.

Anyway. Advice. Please. The frog forums are slow, no one ever answers me.

Thanks.

I'll say it anyway, wahtever your using or trying to heal him with is apparently not working, Its getting worse. I'm sure it hurts, if we got that swollen from some sort of infection or bacterial / fugal thing, it would bother us.

I would atleast call and ask you vet what you might be able to do for him. Let us know

Are you serious!?! Oh my god, why isn't it working!? I've been so careful and precises and GOD we can't afford the vet! Especially for, as my mom would say, "Some frog you found outside"....

What's going to happen if I can't find another way to fix him up?!

I have no more answers for ya kido, mine have never had that.

Thats why I said to give Andy on the frog forum a holler or email, click his name, he's a young guy but has MUCH knowledge

Or call your Vet and just ASK !

Sorry, but I have not dealt with your froggies symptoms before.

I did a little more searching online and found a few sites about frog diseases. One or two of them described fungal infection that sounded similar to your picture (though it could be something else, fungal infections are the most common problems in frogs). Here's what one wrote:

Fungal Infections - fungal infections are very common in these frogs and other amphibians too. Abscesses can be seen in the organs but usually there are ulcers and reddening on the skin, often with fur like white strands emanating from it. The fungus can be treated successfully with fungicides such as Tetra Fungistop but internal infections may require treatment with Sulfadiazine. Fungal infection may recur but with proper treatment and hygiene they can be easily controlled.

I got this from the website

http://clawedfrogs.tripod.com/id33.html

I hope that helps. It looks like the recommended treatment, Tetra Fungistop, may be available over the counter.

Thank you SO much, I have written down both of the medicines and will go out tomorrow and try to find them.

Odd, I thought I had found every article on the web. That one's new to me.

Beady thanks you, too!
