How many types of FWC's are there???

bobl Jul 03, 2003 07:55 PM

I'm looking to obtain a pair of FWC's, but I want the "sub" that gets the absolute largest of the group.
I've heard that there are certain types that are smaller than others when fully grown.
What is the Latin name for it and/or is there a specific common name for the largest FWC's that I can ask for???

Thanks for your help!

From what I hear, all three subspecies are about the same size. This page details some info about the species and gives the experiences of this owner:

Quote from web page:
"There are 3 main species of the False Water Cobra. The main differences in these are geographic region, and pattern and coloration. The 3 are virtually the same though, all in the same genus. Mine is a Hydrodynastes gigas. The other 2 are Hydrodynastes bicinctus and Hydrodynastes schultzi. There are no major differences in their care in captivity, or physiology, just color differences."
