What locale type is my GTP?

polarpooch1 Jan 02, 2005 12:43 PM

We purchased two GTPs from a guy who told us both were Aru-types a little less than a year ago. Clearly one is a Biak type. The other one is making us wonder if she isn't something else as well. Here's a pic of her about a month and a half after her major color change. Aru type or not...or is it too early to tell?

Looks like a sorong type. Do you have any documentation on the animals? But to me it looks like a mainland chondro. Do you have pics of the Sire (Male) and the Dam (Female)?

What color is the tail? To me it looks like a Jaya or Sarong.....but more so Jaya because of the soft blue. Nice either way.

Hi,
the tail is gray toward the very top, then it's dark/black. There is also dramatic blue toward the top the tail.

I don't have a pic of either the sire, or dam. We got these from a ball python breeder who didn't know much about GTPs, and got these after buying out someone's whole collection. He got rid of the GTPs because he admitted he knew little about them. He says they are from an OS or OS influenced line, though. Not sure if that's true, no docs. They were EXCEPTIONALLY priced, and in good health, and we wanted to expand to GTPs, so we got them.

Black tail tip possibly indicates a Sarong, but it very well could be a mix of locales. Most Jayas have the soft blue like your animal, but have a pale bluish-gray tail. I crossed a jaya and sarong pair last year and got babies with black tails and babies with light tails. Just call it what it is......a beautiful chondro.

All people are going to give you is an educated guess.

would you belive this chondro is half high yellow Half "Designer".

There is a pedigree to prove it.

Let localitys go.

Looks to me like its a Jayapura.. grey/blue markings . Very nice good luck with it !

That's what I though too, but Jayas have light colored tails, not black. It could be a mix of both.

it looks like it is a sorong because of the plached blue pattern and jayapura normally have a dorsal line with triangles branching form the center dorsal. Or it could be a very beautiful aru
