I would say you have to atleast start with OPTIMAL health, male and female.
Females needs extra calcium, good and daily food and fresh water.
Optimal heat, everthing at its best , so to speak. A laying site early enough that she knows where she can lay.
Sometimes it happens, they get eggbound, we don't have all the answers, thats why we all share our info and experiences, so we can get better at caring for them, and breeding.
But given all things are tip top, and they are in good health, they should lay eggs and Usually are fine.
You have to be super dedicated Mike, give alot of time and care, and not ignore them for a day, if it sounds like I'm exaggerating, I'm NOT, it takes alot of TIME and CARE, and money too sometimes.
