JIM240 Jan 02, 2005 02:22 PM

i fed Kane today and he ate like five crix right in front of me. quick eater today usually i come back an hour later to see them all gone. he's still got sand in him though. then when i tryed to give him water he didn't want any. i'm starting to think he's solving the problem on his own....but it's weird. BEFORE i fed him i saw a little sand near his mouth. maybe he is eating it. why would he do that though? should i take him out of sand? thanks MIKE

Thats up to you buddy, Kane has been on sand now for a couple years right? Has it ever bothered him before? Sometimes they do get as little mouthful when they grab a cricket, I see some sometimes on my guys faces.

Its generally not a problem for adults. I do put hatchlings on paper towels until a few months old.

If hes literally starting to eat it, yeah, take him of it. If you think he's impacted, and having bowel movements with sand, and sand stuck to his bottom, then put a dab of mineral oil on a cricket, (just a dab), that will help to soften things.
And remove the sand if it's a problem.

Your Mom can get mineral oil at the grocery store or drugstore for about 1.00

Glad your trying to get these guys all fixed up again Mike, Your Dad would like that.

Hope everything is getting better, and maybe a little easier now, for you all !
