Good looking snake you have there. I was thinking about getting a banana aberant cali some time ago, but the pet store sales person advised that they are almost always nasty in terms of behavior. Sure enough, the one I was looking at nailed me pretty hard (wah) as soon as I picked it up. I doubt all banana calis are like that, the ones in the pet shop probably don't have much interaction with human hands and aren't very "tame". I know that snakes can have different dispositions and so forth. Since you have experience with them, what are your thoughts on the matter?

I believe that cal kings make great pets. The more you handle them, the calmer they get.

Most baby cal kings are afraid and will musk, rattle their tail, bite etc.. It takes a little while to calm them.

Of course some are calm as can be straight out of the egg.

They all have their own personalities, either albino or not, etc..

Thanks for the replys guys. I have a cali that does just fine, but wanted to get opinions on that certain color morph (I'm trying to decide whether the petshop guy that told me banana kings have a bad temperament knows what he is talking about...and it sounds he may have only been speaking about the particular ones in that petshop). As for the nigrita, you (Tom) must have me confused with someone else...but if'n you were to send one may way I certainly wouldn't turn it down! Ha.

a friend was here who handled about 10 different snakes before picking up my adult female Nigritis. I recomended he wash his hands, he did not CHOMP! no battle damage but 5 minutes vice grip action and holding the snake under running water before she let go. Live n learn take care Tom Stevens

hey kerby , so whats the deal w/aztecs? are they just abberant?are they predictable? no offense but to me that just looks like a hi-white reverse stripe(a georgeous snake btw), i always thought aztec was just another term for abberancy.,,,thanks

Thomas, yes it is an aberrancy, and right now a friend of mine produced some from parents that aren't "Aztec" and I produced some from parents that weren't "Aztec". Soon I will be breeding "Aztec" to Aztec" and see.

The difference between "Aztec" and High White Reverse Stripe is that High White Reverse Stripes have very little pattern on the sides and the "Aztecs" have jagged patterns on the side.
