We saw her Friday when we stopped at a local herp shop to pick up some superworms--our male is just waking up from his brumation...
I have 2 teenage daughters who LOVE Beardies...my oldest gets to house our male in her room. My other daughter has been asking for one but her dad doesn't care for reptiles! He freaks whenever we find and pick up a garter snake in our yard (baby)--he can barely stand Drako. HE was the one who suggested that we take in the "rescue"!!!
We picked her up and went tank shopping today --"Lizzabella" has a new 75 gallon home. I also picked up stuff at Home Depot to make her a rock wall like Drako's. I also get to make her tank top tonight...wood frame and wire mesh with hinges....
Lizzabella is a German Giant cross. She is over 21 inches long and HUGE compared to Drako (nearly 18 inches). She is still pretty stressed out (pet shop had lousy conditions) but ate some veggies and crickets a few minutes after being placed in her new home. Her color is starting to come in--lots of yellow.
I found out that she had been bred about a year ago--eggs did not hatch (but owners did not try that hard). She hasn't been with a male since. She is under weight...she will have a vet check this week. I'm pretty confident that she will gain her weight back quickly in a proper home.
She is on shelfliner like Drako but we will add a 1/2 tank sand box when we put in the rock wall.
I'll post pictures when she gets settled. BTW my 2 year old dd is now asking for her own 'dragie'!
