Eyelash Pictures

jcostell Jan 02, 2005 09:43 PM

Well, I bought a digital camera the other day, so here are some Eyelash pics. Sorry if they're blurry, I'm just learning how to use the thing.

Also, does anyone know where I can go to find out the gender of my snake? I'm in MO, so does anyone know a venomous-friendly vet in the state? I'd be willing to go to KC or St. Louis even. It's really something I should already have found out I guess...

This first one is a closeup that came out pretty clear...

I know, but it's a good size comparison pic for anyone familiar with the P38...

Is it my eyes, the pic, my monitor, or his TONGUE? I've never seen a yellow tongue before. Pretty snake either way.

Yep. It's yellow with some darker orange splotches near the base.

www.arav.com is a good place to start when looking for a herp vet. You'll have to get on the phone to see if they are willing to see venomous.
Do you know of any other herp keepers who are able to probe snakes? If not, contacting a local herp society should help you out. If you have venomous you should be familiar with tubing your snakes. Even if the prober is not a venomous keeper, if they trust you they should still be able to probe a tubed snake. Combination of skills

Thanks for the tip. I'd definitely be comfortable tubing the snake, I just don't have a set of probes or any experience with them. I'd also really like to have an actual vet that I could visit if I ever needed more serious work done. I'll check out that site that you posted!

Thanks,

It turned out a beauty! I don't probe, but if you are still in town I can look at it and give an opinion based on size. It looks small sitting on the pistol, but it is still a young animal. Might find someone around here to probe if still needed.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a vet in MO who will lay hands on venomous. Won't help with probing, but Dan Wentz in St. Louis provides phone consultation. He has helped me with a non-ven problem and seems well respected by people I know. There also is a vet here in town who provided a prescription that solved a Gaboon birthing problem for me. But confidence in him varies among snake people.

I appreciate it. I sent you a message as well.
