KWQC (Davenport, Iowa) 31 December 04 Hiawatha man told to get rid of snakes
Hiawatha: Police officers checking a complaint of loud music in Hiawatha, found a man housing a 14-inch-long boa constrictor and a python in his apartment.
Jason Morris, 21, was given a dangerous animal notice and 72 hours to get rid of the snakes or move.
Hiawatha has an ordinance against keeping poisonous or constrictor snakes and other wild animals.
If Morris doesn't move or get rid of the snakes, he could be fined and the snakes evicted.
Officers say the snakes were kept in two fish tanks in the apartment.

I live about about 30 miles from Hiawatha, thankfully in a more herp friendly county, and I think its ridiculous that the officer was heard saying that he "has never even seen a snake like that!" like it was some big creature...it was 14 inches long!!, and the pythons size wasn't determind because it was all coiled up.....what a joke!

I would have to move just to keep my snakes....

The article says Venomous snakes and constrictor snakes.
Most snakes are constrictors, what do they mean?
Do they even know what they are defining as constrictors in that ordinance?
A 9 inch Rubber Boa is a constrictor.
Baby Corn Snakes are constrictors.
I would have to move as well.
I just pray that no organization of ill-meaning lobbyists tries to take away my snakes.
Free country my A$$.
