want to build leo cage please help

lacrosseboss18 Jan 02, 2005 11:41 PM

Sorry for the multiple posts in different forums, i was told to check out this forum from the leo forum.

I was thinking about getting a few female leos. I want to build a cage that is light and opens from the front. I wanna put it on a shelf so weight is an issue. I was wondering if anyone could give me plans/ ideas for building a cage for leos. I was thinking about making a cage thats
3"L X 18"H X 18"W I was thinking about PVC plastic but i am not really sure how to work with it, heat it just dont have any knowledge about the stuff. If anyone could give me ideas i would appreciate it greatly.
material, blueprints, heating, lighting... ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING
Thanks
Joey

I'm not sure if those dimensions are what you really meant to say but for leos you really don't need to use plastic. Sinse they are a dessert animal and they do not require such a large area, I would go with plywood and paint it pretty..heh

Or if you are lazy like me. Take a aquarium and lie it on its side.
The only thing you must do is build a substrate damn in the front(PVC works well).

You can buy a cage much cheaper than you can build one. PVC that is. The tools to properly make one are spendy.. Though they are easier to heat as they conduct heat better. Have yu thought of using racks or are you going for a natural setup?

I was thinking about a cage thats natural looking. I know they dont require a lot of room but, i still wanna give them more room. I was thinking about building a fake rock wall and kinda make a second floor, or give them more floor room.

I was thinking about a nice wood cage but i was worried that it might be too heavy.

I was never a huge fan of the tanks being on their side...

Any ideas, or where i could get a nice cage ready made for leos that fits my wants/needs?

Well even a nice 20 gallon could be a canadate for a few leos or even a trio. They make a foam back wall for them, and look suprisingly real.. It would allow for a good view of them as well. Just some thoughts....

Well i was thinking of something a little bigger then a 20Long. I was thinking maybe 3 feet long and 18 inches wide something like that. Yeah i wanna put like 3-4 in there. Thanks for the great ideas though.
