G'day mates,

I recently got juvenile captive-born Pseudonaja textilis and wonder if you can help me with info about their feeding. They don't seem to care much about pinkies or even pieces of lizards or chicken. Any ideas??

Thanks a million, and a happy new one!!

Klaus

Klaus,

Force feeding small elongated fish (without protruding spines) every 3 days until they take them on their own... keep them live and don't freeze the fish. Then once they are eating well just scent mice with the fish.

Funny about them not taking lizards...what species are you/have you tried?

Regards,

Scott

Thanks for the info; I'll try that. The lizard I was using was a North African desert lizard (pieces of it). Anyway, I guess there is no way around forcefeeding textilis, is there?

Regards,

Klaus

Klaus,

I don't try feeding them skinks...its illegal here in Victoria to use a lizard or frog as a food item.

I also don't usually muck around with them...i offer a pink..if no good, I offer a live fish (in a water bowl)...if no good then I force them.

Email me and I will elaborate further.
