NEED HELP WITH MY SNAPPER!!!

RyanDonnelly Jan 03, 2005 07:36 AM

Last July i was walking out to my pool with one of my friends and he noticed something floating still in the pool. Well we got a net and fished it out and it was a snapping turtle. He was just a little guy the shell about as big as a quarter. He was laying there almost dead he still had what looked like yold or embryo on the bottom of his shell. I soaked him in water and made him a tank and got him a filter after about a month or so he regained full health. I tried to figure out what kind of a turtle he is but i cant figure out if its an alligator snapping turtle or an eastern snapping turtle. I figured if he was an alligator snapper her would have bitten me by now but he wont even when i try to get him to by rubbing his little mouth and he wont he just walks around and i put some guppies in his pond and he doesent looke like he has ate any of them but i got him some little dry shrimp and he loves them and he is now getting pretty big. Doese anyone know what else i could feed him? What are some things that would be a "treat" to him? I will post a picture of his little pond and him. Thanks a lot Ryan
