How long does it take for a shed?

Chrysemys Jul 03, 2003 09:03 PM

Hey,
I recently bought my beardie and he was already in shed. His whole tail and half of his head looks lighter/whiter than the rest of his body. How long does it take for his entire body to get like this? When most if his body is in shed should I soak him? Thanks...

Yes when in shed soaking is great for them, and helps loosen the skin up. Don't pull the skin off though, some of us humans like to pull on things.lol. when ready it will fall off. The only spots to watch for are the tips of toes, and the end of the tail. These two places sometimes need a little help with rubbing while your soaking it. Dragons will shed all different areas at different times one week the head, and tail. Nest two weeks the body, and arms will shed. All different they just shed when it's ready.

Soaking your beardy when it's in shed helps it loosen the skin. Every part of the body has different times to shed. Say the head and the arms/legs shed, maybe even a week later the body will shed, then the tail. IF you notice that your beardy is having trouble shedding and there are bits and pieces near the toes and tip of the tail, soak your beardy and very lightly peel the skin off (do this only if the beardy is having trouble and if the skin is on there for a long period of time).
