Help!!!!!!!!

asdf Jan 03, 2005 11:53 AM

Hi. I've had my FBT for four years now. It has lost weight and gone from a fat FBT to about an averaged sized one because it does not eat very well. The toad goes for crickets and worms, but it always misses catching it. It takes it about 15 strikes at a worm for it to grab it. It is unable to eat crickets because they move to fast for the frog. The frog has gone from its previous bright green color to a darker green (this is not due to shedding its skin). What's wrong with it??????? I don't want it to die because it can't catch insects!!!! Please help!!!! Why is it having problems catching insects??

Are you sure it's 4 years old, it might be just too old and isn't able to eat anymore, but I doubt it. If it can't eat try feeding it with some tongs at a pet store. Just put the crix in the tong or the worm and wiggle it around and hopefully it will catch it. If not I don't know what to tell you.

one of my firebellies is kindof a tard and cant catch crickets sometimes.

try silkworms, if it cant catch those there is something seriuosly wrong. try silkwormfarm.com, though i tried silkworms and didnt particularly like them.
definately try davpacker's advice about the tongs.

Maybe you could try and put him in a seperate sort of smaller container with his food and he'll have more of a chance of getting it that way. I'm not sure of what "older" years to this toad are. Maybe blindness is happening? Hopefully, his sense of smell will still let him be successful catching his prey. Good luck.
