There was a buzz about these guys a few years back but I never saw anyone breeding them or selling them in the US. Are they big in Europe? Anyone have experience with them or seen them in person.

The only time I saw this species come in legally was probably 5 years ago. There were only like 2 or 3 pairs that came in. One lady was successful in breeding them.
You see alot more of the species in Europe.

Only 1 person? That's too bad. This is a very interesting group of Chameleons that looks well suited to captive care. They're small, social, hardy, and have a very cool appearance. Seems to be popular in Europe from what I see on the web. How difficult is it to get captive born specimens from European breeders into the US legally? Anyone thought of trying to get this species into the US market: i.e. some of you larger breeders (screameleons, chameleon paradise etc.)?

They are fairly readily available in the Netherlands and in Germany. I've been thinking of tackling the paperwork to bring some in - I've never imported CITES materials myself, so this would be a big step. They are fantastic animals, and I think would be worth it. I think Bert Langeworf (sp?) at Agama International had a colony a long time ago, but he doesn't have them anymore - there wasn't any interest it seems while they could still come in from South Africa. Glades Herp (gherp.com) got in one shipment about two years ago, they went to one person and I understand they all perished. I think they'd be about $500 each, plus whatever the paperwork and actual import costs would be. I've paid four times that for some species (the sign of a hopeless addict still driving that beat up car...), so it's not completely out of the question. It's just the mechanics of importation that seem daunting.
