Sexed pair purchasing

Patdf Jan 03, 2005 05:33 PM

Hello,
I want to thank everyone in advance for the help that I have been getting. I'm looking at getting a sexed pair of beardies for the possibility of breeding. I want to start with infants to have them as pets. Do the majority of people obtain the beardies at two different breeders to avoid the possibility of inbreed? If so do you just look for the same type morph (example red/gold) and age from the different breeders. And what should I be looking for in the animals before purchasing so that if I do breed them I would pass on a desireable beardie. Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Pat

I would recomend either getting them from 2 different breeders or if you do get them from 1 ask for unrelated bloodlines. Even going with 2 different breeders I would ask for lineage so that you can make sure the parents aren't bro/sis/etc. As far as what to look for, look at the parents more than the babies themselves. Colors may not come in right away and a nice baby can fade over time, also a dull baby can brighten up over time.
