thecheezman069 Jan 03, 2005 06:45 PM

she seems normal but she hasnt touched her food in a week or so if it is kinda sick i want to nip it in the bud before it gets worse but i use a 10 gallon tank and she has 1 hide she loves and a rock to lay on, a water bowl and a worm dish with mealies and wax worms in it and she seems active but what do you reccomend i do if there is something to be done early enough

Well what do you have for substrate? You only have one hide? Do you have a UTH? She might be bored with her food and want to take a break...also since it's winter brumation could cause her to slow down. How old is she? As long as she isn't losing weight I wouldn't worry. If she doesn't start eating then you might want to try pedialyte and/or baby food. I've also found that cutting teh butts of the mealworms and squeesing the guts on to it's nose reminds them of the taste and triggers hunger. Good luck!

i hAve sand as a substrate she is about 8 months old if id have to guess and she isnt fat just lean and there is a uth plus i live in NE and it gets cold hre and my hosue is slightly colder now so she probably is slowing down her eating habits and activness

Any way you could post a picture?

Most people on here are split on the sand issue. Some say get the geckos off it immediately, some don't. But, in this case, you really should - at least until you know what is going on. Put your leo on newsprint or paper towels for now. Keep a warm side and a cool side - probably add another hide if you can... or at least something that the gecko can somewhat hide amongst or in.

agreed. people are slit on sand issue. i belive if u must have it on sand waight till its an adult. and u probly should use paper towls for now. try makeing a humid hide on the warm side.

I would say definately get him off sand ASAP! Also, you need to watch him like a hawk. Has any sand shown up in any of his recent stools? What are the temps in your cage?
