Ball Python Bylaws

Where would be the best place to find out what bylaws may effect owning a ball python.

My guess would be (if there are any in your state) try your local Dept. of Fish and Game also you can check your city codes. Your local Herp Society will also have any pertinant information.

I would check city hall. I bet what you'll find out is that they really don't care as long as it's not a health risk. For instance; Where I live you are not to have more than four pets per house hold. This dose not include fish or small reptiles. On account that they can be housed together in one enclosure. A rack system is considered an enclosure. Also you are not permitted to have any poisonous animals with in the city limits. Nor are you allowed to have an animal that will exceed 40lbs. at maturity. I'm not to sure that one is directed at reptiles such as berm's and retic's as much as it's directed at the red neck who wants to keep a couple of horses in the back yard. Every town has it's own little differences, but I'm pretty sure that the laws are put there to insure a healty environment and not to banish reptiles.
