What are ya'lls thoughts on the Pie-bald Mon. Cobras?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hey Gilbert. I'm assuming you're talking about the "piebald" mons Ray Hunter at Exotic Reptiles Jungle has been getting in here lately? I'm not exactly sure I'd call them piebalkd if they were mine, I'd be a bit more likely to deem them calicos or something, because in most of the pics I've seen they have been rather spotty like calicos, rather that just big patches of missing color like piebalds. Oh well, very neat snakes regardless. I know I certainly wouldn't mind having one or a pair, especially if it proves genetic which it most likely will. I'd try to keep breeding them til I could get the most white out of the babies.

I'd call it calico too. Sorta an ugly morph, like paradox albino is. I'm personally waiting for the leucisitcs to become reasonably available, and by that time I should be ready to own one.

LOL, I know what you mean. The leucy's are only...5k or so..not too bad...hah. That's why I was thinking it might just be better to get these "piebalds" and keep breeding the color out of them. I'd probably end up "making" my own leucies before the real ones were down on an affordable level. By the way, have you noticed that a lot of the leucy kaouthia and atra people offer actual begin showing color as they age? I don't generally notice that in other leucistic snakes. Seems strange, since their genetics *should* prohibit that sort of thing.

Really? I hadn't noticed that... paradox leucism.. hmmm.... just keeps getting stranger. If you have a pic of this, I'd love to see it.
The price might fall faster than you think, demand is what keeps prices up, and there's not a lot of that for expensive cobra morphs (as opposed to, say, ball python morphs).
I don't know if it's possible to breed more white into a calico or a piebald, or if the color amount is in fact completely random. Can't hurt to try, although you might want to ask how the calico retic and piebald ball python people are doing, as I'm sure they're trying the same thing.

Thanks for both parties responses. Well I bought into the whole Piebald or whatever thing. I do believe it to be genetic but only time will tell. I will take some better pics of it due to the ones floating around not really being so good. I really like it and it has allot more white than the pics show. Being that there is only two in the World living is a plus (not including the wild! At least that is what I was told!! I was only able to track down three in the U.S. and one of those met a horrible fate because someone wanted it to be a venomoid. That is soooo sick!! That means two left!
Anyways we will see what happens and I can assure you that in this adult the white has not faded a bit. The white is Ivory white and I'll get some good pics.
Thanks,
Gilbert

My friend owned a couple of them, I don't think they are really what you would classify as piebald, more of just a speckled phase or something, impressive snakes though.
