Breeding Ball pythons using WC Females

aznfish919 Jan 04, 2005 06:15 AM

How likely is it that a WC female is sucessful in breeding? I see many people offering large WC females for breeding-

thanks

It's often said that you can raise up a captive bred hatchling female to breed quicker than you can get a wc female feeding and aclimated enough to breed. I haven't actually tried it myself though.

It can be very sucessful. The first time I bred balls they were both wc. However, the female I had for three years and I bought the male form a guy that had him for four years. Lots of acclimation time there.

The WC we have show no signs of wanting to breed when we got them, one year later, 2 years later... maybe after 5 years?

my .02 Dont buy them!!

I have many WC females.
Some have mated first year, others have not.
If you are trying to gain some years, then this is not the way. CB are better.
I on the other hand, have mine for diversity of genetics and breed male morphs into them to hopefully improve gene strength.

I think its a mixed pot i have a wc female i recieved about a year ago she didnt start to feed for a long time and then it was hit or miss, but once she started eating consistently i introduced her to my male pastel and boom they were locked up on the quickness, now whether she takes is a different story, but i think under a stress free single quartered housing enviornment a natural daylight routine not a timer or artificial light(I leave my blinds open all day and night)i think the acclimation process can be sped up drastically maybe not alwyays in a year but possibly 2 years.I might just be one of the lucky few.I also think that because i only deal with one type of snake that also cuts down on crazy smells like lizards, other snakes not from their own habitat and it allows them to be relaxed a little more not so many crazy things to get used to at 1 time.they always have fresh water to drink and soak in which i think improves stability in their immune system and stress relief.when given proper knowledge of the animal all necessary steps will be taken to provide the best acclimation and happiness for the animal with return of an excellent pet or breeder for the future

all I can say.I got some...12.......yep....why not huh..big....cheap......yea...LOL...

12......1 is male....4 are dead.....2 have sores..and the rest aren't actually 1000 grams maybe or maybe not...and no they will not eat..maybe for a year or more?.......

yea.people get some and they eat and all.....

yea...some suck and some really suck./...

ask Bachman's opinion....buy a baby....raise her up..and she'll breed in 18 months...if she was born early...was born here..and eats right off the bat......

18 months she'll breed...while the wild 1000 gram one that is 3 years old will still wait another year or two or more.......

also....moving big females doesn't help....sold 2 huge girls to a friend.and they took 3 years to lay....yet they laid here every year....

so...buy a bunch of captive born here baby girls and have fun........

yep.......
