Opinions needed on these cages for Corucia zebrata....

Not looking at price, I'm interested to hear what others think of these cages for housing Corucia? I'm mostly concerned about the amount of ventilation offered. With the cagesbydesign you have the option of having one or more screened sides or top.

Any input about these cages is greatly appreciated.

I would have the following concerns:

Custom Cages:
-Melamine and water don't mix very well. It's a laminate and only the outer layer is waterproof. If water gets under the outer layer (through a scratch or chip) or gets to the edge of the board (where there is no waterproof layer), the wood will swell and ruin the cage.

Cages by Design:
These look fantastic, but I would have a few questions:
-How waterproof is it? You will have condensation and water accumulation in the base of the cage. Also, with a cage the size we're talking about, I'd like to be able to hose it out without worrying about the carpet. Ideally, I'd even like the base to be high enough so that I can drill a hole in the bottom of the cage and install a valve so I can drain the cage into a 5 gallon bucket when I'm hosing it out.
-Most of their models are pretty wide. I know it seems obvious, but alot of folks order huge cages and don't realize until it's too late that their doorways aren't wide enough to get it in.

I've also attached a link for a site that has other cage builders (check out Jworlds!). You might also check out a local herp show. There are often local guys at the shows who build fantastic cages and will do it to your specs.

Good luck. I'd be interested to hear what you finally settle on.

Thank you for that link. I emailed the site you recommended for a price quote.
