well, there are protected species in different areas around florida. if you look a few posts down theres a list of stuff we found across the keys. check out wildflorida.org and try googling some other stuff and im sure you can get the list of endangered and otherwise protected species.

Here's a couple of laws to keep in my mind

Pine snakes, indigos, fl box turles, and gopher tortoises are the only protected species you are likely to run across in Tampa, if that.

Handling, transporting, molesting of venomous snakes is illegal except with a vemomous license.

It is illegal to even cover a snake to get it into a coil to photograph in all state parks. I'll admit, I still move them if I can't get a good picture.

Here's a couple of ideas for things to try and not to try

I have had horrible luck in orange groves and related areas, stay away from them.

Road-Hunting will be most productive from sunrise to about 11:00am, and from sunset to 11:00 pm

Breeding season for mud snakes, you might find one if you are lucky.

If you would like, send me an email at gentlemant0@yahoo.com and I can tell you some places worth checking out in the central florida area.
Good Luck- Cole
