A Quick Breeding Question. Please give any advice.

WiteLeo Jan 04, 2005 03:32 PM

Hello, I am now in my 2nd year of breeding and after a great year producing High Yellows and Jungles, I have decided to try my luck in albinos. www.vmsherp.com has some Patternless Tremper Albino's for sale and I was wondering what the percentage of morph I would get in I put...

Tremper Albino, 100% het for Patternless
and a
Patternless, 100% het for Tremper Albino

I understand the rules with 2 genes but not 3.

Thank you for any help.

So, would I get...out of 16 babies
(b is Albino and a is patternless)
1 without trait (6.25%)...normal
2 het for trait b (12.5%)...normal buthas Albino gene
2 het for trait a (12.5%)...normal but has Patternless gene
1 homozygous for b (6.25%)...Albino
4 het for both a and b (25.0%)...normals with both traits
1 homozygous for trait a (6.25%)...Patternless
2 homozygous for b, het for a (12.5%)...Albino with patternless gene
2 homozygous for a, het for b (12.5%)...Patternless with Albino gene
1 homozygous for both traits (6.25%)...and one that is Albino and Patternless

I dont know if this is right or not. Help me out please.
Thanks for that site, got me this far.

If you breed a Patternless 100% het albino to an albino 100% het patternless, I'm pretty sure you would get

25% double het
25% albino het for patternless
25% patternless het for albino
25% patternless albino

I think the example on that website you used was for geckos that were normal but het for both traits (double hets)

You said out of 16 babies, but actually, each baby produced has a chance out of 16 to be each type.
