Female not Eating

JDM2007 Jan 04, 2005 04:58 PM

I have 1.1 baby westerns and at first like usual the male is a finiky eater I have to split the brain at every feed. Now after 12 perfect no trouble feeding my little female has stopped eating She hasnt eaten since 12-10 i have tried everything.
Anyone have any ideas how i could get her to eat?

Since hogs usually are overfed, and it's winter, I wouldn't worry about it for another couple of months.

Mine just ate after fasting for five months. Don't try to force her to eat; just offer something every other week or so and eventually she'll probably start eating again without trouble.

I was just worrie dbecause she is so small. I have an adult male that eats so spratically I dont worry when he does eat Its just a matter of luck when feeding him.

size doesn't really matter, as long as she doesn't start losing a lot of weight (that goes for any size snake). My female is a very sporadic eater and has only recently tarted eating somewhat consistently, and I think she is a lot smaller that the average 1.5 year old hog (don't have a weight but she's probably only 13 inches at most)....still she's bright and healthy and sheds well (only 3 times in the year I have had her--my king when he was growing shed that much in 2 months!). Your snake will eat, and probably the less tricks you try to make her eat, the better because it will be harder to get her to take unscented if she has gotten used to something else.
