Congratulations! Welcome to the wonderful world of ackies. The little guys are usually fairly skittish, but come around as they mature. Take your time and your little guy will come to trust you. I just start by talking to them all the time and working in their cages. They are such nosy critters they can't help but come over to give you a look. Best of luck to you!
Pam
Ackies are just the most fun little monitors. Got my two as hatchlings, and after about a month of just doing basic maintenance, the one let me stroke his back and neck as if we'd been doing this for years. Biggest problem is keeping them out of my way when I'm trying to maintain the cage. They've gotta see what you're doing and 'help.'
Enjoy,
Leslie
