Sony DSC-F717 great digital camera

dragonballs Jan 04, 2005 08:18 PM

If you can find one they stoped making them is the sony DSC-F717 is a hot camera. It's a 5mp with great optical and digital zoom. I picked mine up for about $350. I use it. the only problem i have with it is if you manually focus the buttons are very close to the end of the camera. so taking pictures of hotts is tricky, but it has awlsome marco capabilities. Check out some of my photos. too many close calls taking this picture.

If you like the F717, you should try the F828. It has 8 Mpixel resolution, 7X optical zoom, and focuses in lowlight with a laser holographic grid. Can focus/frame in total darkness with infrared, and even shoot the picture in infrared. It also has mpeg1 video at 30fps 640X480 mode. The F828 also uses both memory sticks, and Compact flash I/II cards. It is FAT32 compliant, so the Hitachi 4Gig microdrive will work fine. I have one, and love it. I have seen them now for $499 in magazines.

I've seen it. that camera is sweet. I'm actually saving my money for one. there is a kit with a extra lens attachment for marco imaging (which is my favorite) for $795. But I know if I keep looking I'll find it cheaper. Hey, I heard that the F717 has Exrta len attachments. do you know if that is true? I keep seeing lens for sale on the internet that says it attaches. I took this picture with the 717.

Macro kit? The F828 has macro focusing at all zoom ranges. I have never used the F717, but it should have a button with a flower on it, or a scene mode for macro photography. As far as attachment lens, the F828 has a 58mm filter mount, so if the F717 takes 58mm filters, it should take the F828 attachment lenses. I have seen wide angle (0.5X) and telephoto (2X) for the Sony DSC F828, in the back of PCPhoto magazine. They are in the $100-$200 range. I have my eye on a 4 Gig CF card for $205 on the internet. The file size even for .JPG files are 3-3.6Megs, so cards can fill up fast.

do you use photoshop 7.0? if not thats a great program. i have just started using it so i have not found all the stuff it can do.

That program is a little tto pricey for me. I can do 100% of what I do with photographs, with the $80 Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0.
