yellow RETF's?

jaysnakes Jul 03, 2003 10:55 PM

I was just wondering if anyone has ever come across a yellow red eye. I have seen very few pictures of them but i have seen them and I think they are really neat looking. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about them. Oh and i just wanted to wish everyone a Happy and Safe 4th of July.

Those are most likelyxanthic red-eyes, meaning they lack blue pigment to mix with the yellow and make green. Lutino red-eyes are kinda a pale yellow. There was a group of xanthic red-eyes on the classifieds recently for about $600. And Alan Shobert selling lutino red-eye tads. Happy 4th.

Well i went to the classifieds and looked at the xanthics but they don't look like the yellow red-eyes that i have seen. These xanthics lack all blue pigment like you said but they also lack a lot of the bright red pigment in their eyes. Now the yellow red eyes that i have seen still have the bright red eyes and the still have the bright blue markings on the side of their bodies. Now im not sure if some xanthics have this or not but the ones i have seen just dont look like the ones on the classified. I do have a picture of one of these frogs from the REPTILES magazine's December 1994 issue. I would like to send you a picture so you could see what this frog looks like but since i am new i am not sure on how to send photos off of my computer. If someone could please tell me how i will get a picture up on this page so all can debate on if this frog is in fact a xanthic or possibly something else. Thanks again. JAY

Lution red-eyes lack blue pigment and don't have red-eyes. their eyes are more of a light gray. Very light gray.
