Hi. I built Sam a basking area out of a 2 x 6 board. He seems to LOVE it!! He seems much happier and energetic than when I just had a small piece of driftwood in there. He is eating a lot now and seems to be settling in very well. Today he even went on a little walk around the house on my neck (Because I had to change the paper towels haha). He is very friendly and so cute. It always looks like he's really listening to me when I talk to him because he cocks his head to the side like dogs do and it's so cute! I was wondering if there was any kind of non-toxic paint that I can use on the basking area that the crickets cant climb on. They will climb on the underside of this basking area and Sam will look up at them from the ground and can't get to them. I am always chasing them around trying to keep them off of the wood but it doesnt work. Thanks
Meghan

If you can't find any nontoxic paint (which I'm sure you could at any craft, art store) you could always try clear packing tape. My crickets can't crawl on it and I'm pretty sure yours aren't any smarter...LOL

don't know much about the paint but have the same problem as me. my frank can never get to the crickets either. your beardie's peoronality sounds just like my frank he always sits on my shoulder when i am cleaning his tank and really looks at you when you are talking to him (unless you are late shutting his light of so he can go to bed he seems to give you the "im not listening" look)he is the only lizard i know that can hold a grudge until feeding time. love him to death don't know what i would do if anything happened thats why i post every little problem on here because everyone is so helpful and they always stop me worrying.
good luck with stopping the crickets.
