hemipenis size?

mike17l Jan 05, 2005 11:12 AM

i would like to create some jungels with my female albino corn, i have been told not to use male cal kings with female corns as their hemipenis are rather large and could damage the female. i have a male alterna, a male annuleta, and a male tharyi and would like to breed one of them to the corn snake. my question is, which one would cause the least problems with hemipenis size compared to the cornsnake?

thanks

I heard its not recomended because kings lock up longer than corns, so the female corn might get bored or tired, and start to try to get away from the male, possibly causing injury. If this is really the case, just keeping the female quiet and still will solve that problem.

A lot also depends on the size of the individual animal.
I have bred some f1 from a cali male and a female corn without problems.
But the female was very large and the cali small.
As for the lock up time. The cali realy took his time.
But he is rather dominant so he keeps her under him during mating. She didn't move much.
