What are bred in order to create snow's?
Thanks!
If I'm not mistake, a snow is actually a supspecies of the leopard gecko. That's why snows are a bit smaller than normal. Snows breeding with really light leos should also produce a very light leo with the genes to make a snow.
I'm actually on my way to creating my own snow line.. Here are some pics of one baby I hatched out. She's not completely a snow, but she's well on her way.

The day she was born

Few months later

And here she is now
I plan on taking the money earned from selling babies this year to buy her a male snow for breeding.

snows are my favorites! the fasciolatus subspecies is one that albey mentioned looked much lighter & had more snow tendencies. but the subspecies can all interbreed, so that would only really apply to, like, discussing the tendencies of the wild populations. what i mean is that, like, the fasciolatus may have contributed heavily to the lines of snows in existence, but it's not the sole source of snows. i like your girl there, she looks very promising. this whole question is getting very complicated, what with the arrival of the 'mack super snow.' they are definitely two different things, one being selectively bred for (the snow phase- like albey has been breeding for years, along with others), and one being purportedly a co-dominant, simple genetic trait (the super snow). i still have reservations about this, since i've definitely seen animals with black eyes that were not snows. the mack super snows are amazing looking, though. i suppose time will tell. the pictures i've seen of the urban geckos' snows are pretty cool too. i also like (and recommend) lizard's lair. the mack snows are way out of my price range for now.

well said there.. don't forget to mention A1 Reptiles...i think they were the first to have snows way back.. i bought mine in like 2000 or 2001. The mack snows are way too overpriced.
the only reason i haven't bought from A1 in the past is because they didn't have individual pictures. now that they do, i can't wait for them to post pics of their snows!
i don't know if the mack snows are overpriced, exactly. i mean, i can see why they'd price them as they are, as they're trying to keep it a lucrative investment for the breeders that have invested. since, in theory, once one has one, it would be much easier to produce more, than, say, if one bought a blazing blizzard & tried to produce those (since, in theory, the mack super snows are like albinism & wouldn't require a crossover event, as blazing blizzards would). i think that's why the blazing blizzards i've seen for sale have been going for as low as they are, because one would really need a sexed pair to guarantee being able to produce any...
man, all this talk of my two favorite morphs makes me dream big dreams!
one day, i want my own blazing (as a display animal), by gum, and maybe i'll add some super snows to my snow colony, sometime down the line!

Snows on the market are really just linebred to create the lightest color possible.
Most snows started with the subspecies.

i know, i know! they are so neat!
snows have really caught on in popularity. though, in the end, i think it's really neat, and will increase the quality & quantity available (plus the variations on the 'snow' phase), i'm still a little protective feeling. it's my favorite phase, i've been following it avidly for several years, and now i feel like my favorite band has just become super famous. heh.
i guess it's timed pretty nicely- i've been working on my colony for a long time, and this year will be my first breeding (for striped & speckled snows). heh.
