Breeding question

graycat274 Jan 05, 2005 02:35 PM

This is my first time breeding and any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated!

I put my female with my male when she looked obviously fat and ready (she was a very swollen 1600g)! They locked up for a few days, then I separated them - fed them (she ate, he didn't) and put them together for a few more days where they locked up again.

She shed Nov 20, still looks very swollen and eats regularly. No eggs yet.

Was it too soon? Should I put her back in with the male? How long should I leave them together?

Thanks!

I would suggest breeding them until you witness ovulation. Once that happens you know eggs are on the way.

There will be a very noticeable mid-body swelling that lasts for around 12 hours. Looks like they ate about three times too many rats. I know there are some people on here with pictures hopefully someone will post one.
