Rookie questions

I am considering getting a jungle carpet as my 2nd pet snake and am interested in any and all information that anyone can share with me about them. How large do the males get? What are their temp/humidity requirements? When fully grown, will large rats suffice as food? Also, what is the price range (from breeders) for these?

Thanks!

Well.......I would check out Anthony Caponetto's care sheet at www.acreptiles.com. It gives some excellent general info for carpets. As far as sizes the males are generally smaller between 5'-6', and females are between 6'-7' occasionally reaching larger. Rats are fine from hatching through adulthood. You should never have to feed one anything larger than a rat. Prices vary greatly. **I will say that with these snakes you WILL pay for what you get** You can buy hatchling jungles for $100 or less, but beware you might not get what you want. My advice is to search on the web, view the adult breeders, and view the available hatchlings if possible. If the breeder will not release photos of the young ones then I wouldn't make the purchase. Go check out Slective Oigins and Reptilicus Reptiles. Good luck!
