Bathing the dragon question (easy)

ZPD Jan 05, 2005 07:07 PM

My new guy has been living in sand that was long overdue for a change. It smelled very strong of pee! So everything is trashed and cleaned, except for the dragon. How rigorously can I bathe him or scrub him. Any suggested methods? Please include details in your suggestions!

Here he is continuing to fill up on a hisser.

I just fill up a Rubbermaid with warm water, and let them soak until the water starts getting colder. When it gets cold I add more warm water to get the water temp back up. I don't use any soap on mine, but I do have these awesome Crest spin brushes (electric toothbrush) I bought for my dragons which gives them a great massage while cleaning any stuck on dirt. Works great on their dirty feet, and tails hehe. Just make sure they don't find their way into your toothbrush holder Yuck!!!

what do you suggest on batheing babys?

Mystical-Dragons Jan 05, 2005 09:17 PM

For babies I don't use the electric spin brush. The water is stressful enough for them when young, so no need to add the massaging of the brush. I just keep the water shallow around shoulder height for them. If your bathing more then one never leave them alone, not even for a minute as they will try to hold on to each other to get out of the water, and can easily drown a sibling like that. I just use warm water and rub a little if there is anything stuck on. I soak the babies once weekly, as they get plenty to drink from the daily misting during the week. I'm really afraid that soaps (fragrance/chemicals) will cause a reaction, so I don't even bother trying anything like that. Warm water has does the trick for me.
