Iris Update

Triad Jan 05, 2005 08:55 PM

I think by now that the majority of you know that Iris has pneumonia.

I've been giving her a tiny bit of medicine every other day and I think it is starting to work.

I listened to her and she hasn't been making a ton of popping sounds like before.

Also every time she shakes her head from side to side she has been successful in getting the liquid out of her lungs.

I hope this means that she will be getting better soon.

The only thing that has me worried now is that she doesn't really want to eat. At least she doesn't eat if I am in the room.

I live in Wisconsin where it is winter and quite cold. My three bentis went into a brumation, but last week two were out basking, but I have not seen the other one in over 6 weeks. The last few days they were out less. My 3 ornates come out almost daily, but seem to have less of an appetite than in the warm weather, the saharan the same. Of my two sudanese, one is out daily, eating like a champ and the other comes out every 3-4 days and nibbles. I guess they are all different. If yours doesn't appear sick or have any symptoms of respiratory problems, it is probably just the winter slowdown, depending on where you live and your temps. Good luck.

Also, I would not recommend offering worms if he's not eating or basking much - they are hard to digest and have very high protien. Stick to greenery until he's back to normal.

well he's kind of fatty and didn't lose any weight, so i guess it's just brumating proccess...it was the same last winter when i got him!
i have to go to the store tomorrow...i ran out of endive!

is there something wrong if i feed him mostly with endive and vitamins?

well he eats dandelion when in season, i gave him mango as well but he didn't like it!
hibiscus blooms from my grandma...but those things only in season, not now!
but now in winter there is only endive availible...??
